Executive Director
Job Description: The Ozaukee Nonprofit Center (ONC) is a unique place where nonprofits share ideas, space, resources, expertise, and expenses as well as a passion for serving the community. As a hub of support and knowledge for the county, recipients of ONC-based agency services benefit through the connections they are able to make across the other partner organizations.
The ONC aims to be a comprehensive learning center for individuals and families, to attract volunteers and make sure every need is met, and to relieve the financial burden for all its agencies and establish a foundation that will continue the tradition in perpetuity.
The ONC is seeking a full-time Executive Director (ED) with a proven track record for managing a vibrant nonprofit organization. The key responsibilities of the ED include administration, program management, fundraising, grant writing, marketing, outreach, property management, and strategic planning while keeping the ONC vision and mission as a guiding factor for all decisions. An annual performance review with mid-year calibration will be conducted to ensure job responsibilities are being met as well as aligned to organizational and personal goals.
Reports to: ONC Board of Directors
Purpose: To support the day-to-day operation of a small non-profit organization
Status: Non-Exempt position. Typical hours will be conducted during ONC open hours (Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm and Friday 9am to noon. Must be flexible to accommodate occasional irregular or extended hours for ONC events or programs (most flexible during the month of December).
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, finance, or equivalent
- Five years of senior level nonprofit organization experience
- Successful marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience
- Experience with event planning, promotion, and execution
- Proven skills in fundraising and grant management
- Experience in program development and management
- Proven track record in setting and achieve strategic goals
- Experience managing social media accounts and building online campaigns
- Ability to work cooperatively and diplomatically with boards, volunteers, etc.

Job Tasks:
Board & Committee Governance
- Report directly to the Board of Directors
- Ensure corporate records and all corporate filings are completed
- Facilitate Board meetings by bringing action items, and reporting building information/activities
- Assist the Board with the budget development and implementation
- Support recruiting and onboarding efforts for new Board & Committee members
- Serve on and support various ONC committees, as well as ONC partner and community committees
Marketing, Fund Development & Event Management
- Manage fund development by identifying grants, completing applications, and soliciting donations
- Ensure donor records are maintained, including proper donation recognition
- Manage updates, renewals, and campaigns on all social media accounts
- Manage annual appeals and annual reports
- Write and distribute monthly newsletters
- Represent the ONC in the community by fielding questions regarding the facility and its agencies, distributing brochures, attending community functions, etc.
- Organize ONC community events and lead speaking engagements
- Oversee ON Center (Event Space) Management, while being responsible for event space revenue generation and budget goals.
- Create rental marketing materials, reviewing and updating proposals and contracts
- Manage ONC special events and yearly fundraisers, this includes galas, proceeds nights, and our largest fundraiser Illuminate Ozaukee
Personnel, Financial & Building Management
- Manage Assistant ED staff member(s) including work assignments, personnel development, and performance reviews
- Ensure all accounting tasks are completed, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and yearly audits
- Promote ONC vacancies and show office space to potential partner agencies
- Facilitate new leases and lease renewal as authorized by the Board
- Negotiate and manage contracts for shared services, oversee cost containment, and authorize expenditures
- Supervise contractors, staff, and volunteers for maintenance, cleaning, and grounds-keeping duties
- Oversee projects and contracts with consultants
- Create, promote, and manage individual and corporate volunteer opportunities as well as recruit, screen, accept, and supervise volunteers
- Act as an additional point of contact for vendors, agencies, maintenance, and the general public
- Plan, schedule, and track maintenance duties
- Prepare needs assessments for maintenance, technology, energy, and reserve expenditures
- Manage and troubleshoot shared equipment, and order and stock supplies
- Oversee conference room scheduling and support with affiliates and outside groups
- Create and maintain guidelines for building use
- Support new partner agencies with phone/data lines and furnishings when available
- Manage basement storage for the ONC and its agencies
- Conduct weekly walkthroughs of the building and property to check for cleanliness and maintenance issues
- Address agency concerns as they arise and other duties that get assigned
- Manage IT support for ONC internally, as well as the building in general
Security & Monitoring Support
- Maintain a safe workplace for all supporting agencies by establishing security and emergency procedures, informing employee of guidelines, conducting fire and emergency drills, reviewing and responding to fire inspections, and serving as an emergency contact person
- Support alarm/fob system and security cameras, and check alerts to make sure building is locked after hours and on schedule during building hours
- Field police and fire monitoring calls
- Report emergencies and concerns to the Board, police, and/or appropriate persons
Agency Membership & Engagement
- Coordinate and execute outreach to agencies and members at set touchpoint/outreach dates
- Follow up with prospective and courtesy members, while maintaining membership reports – prospective members, high-risk members, and tracking membership progress/communications through CRM
- Remain informed and up-to-date with ONC benefits and events
- Assist members in taking advantage of membership including benefits and events
- Manage membership renewals, onboarding, and updating membership lists and marketing materials
- Manage engagement activities and programming, such as the annual agency holiday celebration, annual volunteer fair, monthly agency workshops, and quarterly agency engagement activities
Program Support & Volunteer Management
- Oversee the ONC Volunteer program and Volunteer Ozaukee (collaboration with United Way of Northern Ozaukee)
- Review and update the volunteer handbook, onboarding paperwork, and job instructions for volunteers
- Manage Baby Bank program – intake and distribution, solicitation of products, and collaboration with key stake holders to help support clients in need
