The Ozaukee Nonprofit Center (ONC) is proud to participate in National Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 15–21, 2025, a nationwide initiative that highlights the growing challenge many families face in affording enough diapers for their children, through their Ozaukee Baby Bank program.
Across the U.S., 1 in 2 families struggles with diaper need. For families in Ozaukee County, the Baby Bank helps close that gap by providing essentials such as diapers, pull-ups, wipes, and baby supplies at no cost. Yet the demand continues to grow — diapers are not covered by federal assistance programs like WIC or SNAP, leaving many parents forced to choose between buying diapers and paying for other basic needs.
Collection barrels are placed at locations throughout Ozaukee County now until September 21st, to make it easy for residents to give back. Donations of diapers (sizes 4–6 most needed), pull-ups (especially 3T–5T), and wipes will help restock the Baby Bank and ensure shelves are ready for the families who walk through ONC’s doors every week.
“Diaper need is a reality for far too many parents, and it’s one of the most overlooked challenges families face,” said Carissa Barnes, CEO of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center. “This is about shining a light on the issue while giving our community a simple, tangible way to make an impact. Every package donated helps relieve stress for a parent and ensures a baby has the essentials they deserve.”
This effort also comes at a pivotal time for the Baby Bank. ONC is preparing for a major expansion and renovation project to transform the current space into a welcoming, store-style environment that offers families dignity of choice while meeting rising demand. To help fund this transformation, ONC is currently holding its Baby Bank Raffle (Sept. 1–21), offering participants the chance to win $1,500 while directly supporting local families.
