County recognizes Ozaukee Nonprofit Center’s role in addressing diaper need through the Ozaukee Baby Bank
The Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors has officially proclaimed September 15–21, 2025, as National Diaper Need Awareness Week in Ozaukee County, recognizing the efforts of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center (ONC) and its partners to support local families through the Ozaukee Baby Bank.
Diaper need, the struggle to provide enough clean diapers for infants and toddlers, affects families nationwide and is recognized as a serious public health issue. Without reliable access to diapers, children are at higher risk for health issues such as diaper rash and urinary tract infections, and many parents are forced to miss work or school, as most child care programs require disposable diapers.
Locally, the Ozaukee Baby Bank, operated by ONC, provides diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food to families in need. This work is carried out in collaboration with Family Sharing, Ozaukee Food Alliance, and the Ozaukee County Health Department – WIC program.
“Every child deserves the basics needed for a healthy start,” said Carissa Barnes, CEO of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center. “We’re grateful for the County’s recognition of this important issue and for the community members who step up daily to support local families.”
ONC extends thanks to Ozaukee County leaders, community partners, and residents who make it possible to meet the growing needs of families. The organization continues to raise awareness and advocate for long-term solutions to eliminate diaper needs.
