Grafton, WI Nonprofit leaders from across Ozaukee County gathered at the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center for AI Think Tank: Get Started with AI—The Right Way, a hands-on learning and discussion session designed to help nonprofits better understand and responsibly use artificial intelligence in their day-to-day work.

The interactive Think Tank focused on practical, real-world applications of AI for nonprofits, including communications, fundraising, operations, and administrative efficiency—while also addressing ethical considerations, data privacy, and organizational readiness. Participants explored how AI can be used as a supportive tool, not a replacement for human connection or mission-driven decision-making.

“This session was intentionally designed to be approachable,” said Carissa Barnes, CEO of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center. “AI can feel overwhelming or intimidating, especially for small and mid-sized nonprofits. Our goal was to create a space where organizations could ask questions, share concerns, and walk away with a clearer understanding of how AI can support their work in a thoughtful and responsible way.”

The event brought together nonprofit professionals at varying stages of AI familiarity, encouraging peer discussion, shared learning, and collaboration. Attendees left with practical takeaways and next steps they could begin applying immediately within their organizations.

The AI Think Tank is part of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local nonprofits by providing education, shared resources, and opportunities for collaboration that respond to emerging needs across the sector.
