Grafton, WI –Volunteers for the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center worked this past Saturday to complete the removal of residual debris from Zeunert Park.  The months-long cleanup effort of the Illuminate Ozaukee holiday light show in Cedarburg took longer than expected due to the timing of some unfortunate winter weather.

“In general, our participating businesses were fabulous about removing larger items from the park in a timely fashion, but the early January snowfalls compounded by frigid temperatures made it impossible to locate and remove everything,” says Carissa Barnes, Executive Director of the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center “We made a commitment to the City of Cedarburg to make every effort to protect the beauty of the park and it was important to us that we kept our word.”

Volunteers of all ages participated in the cleanup effort, which took place over multiple weekends. Careful attention was paid to removing small items that could negatively impact wildlife–including plastics and metal ground stakes. “We’re grateful to the City of Cedarburg for allowing us to use of the park for this event,” says ONC Board Vice-President Joe Kassander “We look forward to continuing to grow this event in 2021 and beyond and appreciate the community support.”
